'My take on the झगड़ा (?) between Hrithik Roshan and Kangna Ranaut:' - by K.J.S.Chatrath

It is either a pure publicity stunt or the two are simply behaving in an utterly immature way........

'Homage to my late father "Sardar Sahib" Gurbux Singh Chatrath on his 111th birthday' by K.J.S.Chatrath

Today is my late father's birthday. He was born on 15th April 1905 in Sialkot. He expired in 1982 in Chandigarh.

He he did have a Chandigarh connection. He was in the P.C.S. and was posted as Officer on Special Duty to assist Sardar Bahadur Narinder Singh, ICS,  for organising the Inauguration of Chandigarh by Pt. Nehru.
During that period, he was advised by his friends to apply for allotment of a plot in Chandigarh. He refused saying that since he was posted at Chandigarh it would tantamount to taking advantage of his government posting for personal gain! Yes, he was stubbornly honest.

Here are some memories:

He was Captain of the Gymnastics Team of Government College, Lahore where he studied. He was fond of hills and this is a photo of him taken during his younger days, some where near Manali.

In 1946 he was conferred the title of 'Sardar Sahib' by the then British Viceroy of India.

Here he is, third from ritght, at a reception given to the M.C.C team that played a cricket match in Amritsar in the early Nineteen-Fifties. In the centre in a black suit and a bow tie is Lala Amarnath, the then Captain of the Indian Cricket Team.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.

'The Panama Papers' - by K.J.S. Chatrath

'The Panama Papers' are the flavour of the week and every one is talking knowledgeably about those.

My information is limited to the headlines that I have seen in the newspapers.

My take - one interesting thing that comes out is that citizens and leaders of the U.S.A. are non-corrupt and honourable men and women... ... ...

'Happy Birthday to Bapu Nadkarni, who bowled 21 consecutive maiden overs in a Test Match' - by K.J.S.Chatrath

This is again about cricket. Yes, I know that T-20 2016 final is over and that the West Indies have won. But I want to salute a cricketer of our times whose birthday falls today. He is R.G Nadkarni, popularly known as 'Bapu' Nadkarni. I will not be surprised if the youngsters of today have never heard his name. He used to play a long, long timeback - in the early 1960s.

Nadkarni was famous for bowling an unerring line to batsmen which made it nearly impossible to score. It is often told that he used to put a coin on the pitch when he practiced in the nets, and would practice hitting the coin with every delivery.

He had a career economy rate of less than 2.00 runs per over. Nadkarni is perhaps best known for his bowling in the Madras Test against England in 1963-64. His figures at the end of third day of the match, bowling mostly against Brian Bolus and Ken Barrington, read 29 overs, 26 maidens, and no wickets for three runs. He finished with figures of 32-27-5-0. He bowled a record twenty one consecutive maiden overs (131 dot balls in a row) in a 114-minute bowling spell. Wow! In the final Test of that series, Nadkarni hit 52* and 122*.

Happy birthday Bapu Nadkarni Ji.
